What happened

  • A clinician complained about AstraZeneca’s UK corporate website medicines webpage (a public-facing list of medicines with links to SPCs on emc).
  • The complainant alleged black triangle errors between May 2023 and November 2023:
    • Calquence listed without a black triangle.
    • Fasenra and Lokelma listed with a black triangle when not required.
    • Imjudo (a black triangle product) missing from the list.
  • AstraZeneca said the page was non-promotional and intended for the public, with a disclaimer, and each medicine linked directly to the SPC on emc.
  • AstraZeneca also explained that in November 2023 it removed the static list and replaced it with a link to the live AstraZeneca medicines list on emc to reduce the risk of information becoming out of date.
⚖️

Outcome

  • Breach of Clause 26.2 (in relation to Calquence, Fasenra and Lokelma black triangle status being presented inaccurately).
  • No breach of Clause 26.2 (in relation to Imjudo being missing from the list).
  • No breach of Clause 26.4.
  • No breach of Clause 9.1.
  • No breach of Clause 5.1.
  • No breach of Clause 2.
