What happened

  • A complaint was made about the ‘About Us’ section of Theramex’s corporate LinkedIn page.
  • The page stated: “A new global women’s healthcare company that provides innovative, effective and safe solutions that care for and support women at every stage of their life.”
  • The complainant alleged Theramex could not describe its solutions as “safe” because all pharmaceutical/prescribed products carry risk.
  • PMCPA asked Theramex to consider Clauses 6.1 and 6.4 of the 2021 Code.
  • Theramex said it investigated internally, deleted the paragraph (29 May 2024), re-uploaded the page after review/approval, and reminded UK and HQ personnel about correct social media use and relevant SOPs.
⚖️

Outcome

  • Breach of Clause 6.4 (Using the word ‘safe’ without qualification).
  • Breach of Clause 6.1 (Making a misleading claim).
  • No appeal.
